David grew up playing hockey in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and is a graduate of Princeton University. He has played hockey since he was five years old and became a goaltender at 12 years old.
David played youth hockey at the AAA level in Sudbury through midget and left home for Toronto to play with St. Michaels College High School, Jr. B Buzzers. David went from Jr. B to Princeton University in 1983 and played for four years in the ECAC league, NCAA Division 1. He captained Princeton in his Sr. year.
Upon graduation with a degree in Chemical Engineering, David signed a professional hockey contract, and moved to northern Italy to play for Cavit, Val di Fassa, in Italy’s Premier Hockey league, in the IIHFA. In Italy, David was coached by Lou Vairo, the prior coach of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Hockey team.
David has extensive coaching experience and has his Masters level coaching card in USA Hockey’s CEP. He has coached both AA and AAA travel hockey, both girls and boys in Rochester, NY, Houston, TX, and Detroit, MI. He has also coached Michigan high school hockey at Northville HS. David, a former Hitmen coach in the early 2000's, returned to the Hitmen in 2011 and was the Head Coach for the Hitmen U15 AA team that completed their recent season as the U16 AA SWSHS Runner Ups.
David will be our U16 Tier II Head Coach to challenge for the U16 Tier II Texas State Championship.
